Bonfire in Kyoto
"Gozan no Okuribi" was held for the first time in three years in Kyoto.
"Gozan no Okuribi" (also called Kyoto Gozan Okuribi) is a bonfire held on August 16th every year at Mt. Nyoigatake (Daimonjiyama) in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. In other words, it's a traditional event held throughout the city of Kyoto to send off the spirits of ancestors during the Obon festival.
A letter 'BIG' emerged in the night sky of Kyoto. A traditional summer event 'Gozan no Okuribi', fully lit for the first time in 3 years.
It's a pretty spectacular.
